NEW
YORK–INHD,
cable’s most widely distributed all HD-network, and Major League Baseball
Productions, the Emmy® award-winning in-house television and video
production division of Major League Baseball, have partnered to create
“Cathedrals of the Game.”
“Cathedrals of the Game “ is a 15-part series in high definition
highlighting Major League Baseball ballparks. The series, which initially will air
exclusively on INHD, will begin with “Cathedrals of the Game: Houston’s Minute Maid
Park” on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at
7pm ET, with an encore
presentation at midnight.
“Cathedrals of the Game” will feature a
behind-the-scenes profile of 14 Major League Baseball stadiums along with the
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New
York.
Highlighting the legacy of the classic ballparks and the majesty of the
modern stadiums, each episode will utilize the vast MLB Productions library
archive to explore the history of the Major League Clubs and their local
communities. The new series will
capture the nostalgic essence of each featured ballpark, providing fans with a
never-before-told epic baseball story.
“This series is requisite viewing for baseball fans
and history buffs alike,” said David Asch, Vice President of Strategic Planning
& Product Management, iN DEMAND Networks. “While each episode qualifies as
uniquely compelling television on its own merits, seeing each of the broadcasts
through the prism of widescreen HD adds an entirely new perspective. The high definition format captures the
essence of what draws us in the first place to Major League Baseball and to
these great shrines of the past and the present.”
"We are delighted to launch our high-definition
programming with the 'Cathedrals of the Game' series on InHD, and look forward
to developing more original baseball content for this burgeoning format," said
Elizabeth Scott, Vice President of Programming and Business Affairs, MLB
Productions. "This series is the
ideal showcase to convey the grandeur of Major League ballparks, given the
pristine, captivating images high-definition technology
provides."
