Screen Research Helps Optimize Digital Speaker, Projector Performance
Spring 2004

In a front-projection system, the ideal place for your center speaker is behind the screen. Screen Research has developed the acoustically transparent ClearPix screen to allow for this arrangement with no visual or sonic losses, even in theaters using fixed- pixel projectors. Screens are available in both fixed and retractable versions, with both matte white and pearl gray materials. ClearPix’s woven fabrics are geometrically optimized to allow sound to pass through with only 1 dB of attenuation evenly across the full frequency band. This eliminates the need for corrective equalization, which is often needed with other perforated screens. In addition, ClearPix threads offer "optimum light scattering and neutral color rendition," according to company literature, and the absence of visibly dark perforations prevents more interference from occurring with pixel-based projectors. THX and Joe Kane Productions certifications pending.
