RCA to Release Second-Generation HD-DirecTV Tuner
Spring 2004

Thomson Electronics, RCA’s parent company, announced the impending release of the DTC-210, the long-awaited sequel to the company’s industry reference tuner, the DTC-100. The 210, like its predecessor, will include both regular and high- definition satellite and off-air reception. In addition to the analog RGB+HV and YPrPb component connections, the tuner will offer a secure digital link to appropriately outfitted displays via DVI with HDCP. Users will be able to configure the tuner’s high-definition output rate to 1080i, 720p, 480p or 480i to match the performance capability of their display. Regardless of the output rate selected, the tuner will simultaneously output 480i signals through the standard connections, thus allowing the consumer to use both HD and regular displays at the same time. Thomson has not released an expected retail price, and anticipates making the unit available in early 2004.
