Sharp Bolsters Aquos Line with Its First HDTV Monitor 4:3 Model
By Stanton Crenshaw PR for Sharp
06/15/2004

Mahwah, N.J.—Recognizing the growing consumer demand for  LCD televisions and the rising popularity of high-definition programming,  Sharp, the global market leader in Liquid Crystal television*, today  announced a new 20-inch AQUOS(tm) LCD television. The new AQUOS  television, model LC-20B6U-S, is the first to offer consumers HDTV and PC  compatibility in a smaller body.  As Sharp's first LCD TV to offer  expanded capabilities in a 4:3 screen size, the LC-20B6U-S broadens the  already impressive AQUOS line, which includes more than 40 different  models.

"We're addressing the growing consumer demand for LCD TVs by bringing new  capabilities to smaller screen size offerings, as well as increasing the  variety of design and installation options available to our consumers,"  said Bruce Tripido, Director of Product Marketing, Display Devices, Sharp.  "Sharp's ongoing goal is to provide consumers with a solution to any of  their LCD needs by offering the widest selection of screen sizes and  colors, as well as exciting capabilities and innovations that include  wireless television and home networking options."  Building on the existing 4:3 AQUOS models, the LC-20B6U-S offers enhanced  features that increase the functionality of the television.  It is able to  receive and display HDTV signals,** allowing consumers to enjoy  high-definition programming.  In addition, the television has a PC input  that allows it to double as a PC monitor without sacrificing picture  quality, making it the center of the networked home.  This feature  furthers Sharp's initiative to transform the television from a display  device to a multimedia device that is integrated within the home network.  The LC-20B6U-S features a sleek and stylish design that has defined the  AQUOS series since its inception, with built-in side speakers and a silver  body.  Its sophisticated design fits seamlessly into any décor and the  detachable table stand allows the television to be removed easily from the  stand and mounted on the wall.
