Further developments to Tannoy’s growing
range of installation loudspeakers have resulted in two new in-ceiling models
using proprietary point source drive unit technologies within a highly versatile
and flexible ‘eyeball’ enclosure. The CMS401e uses a 100mm (4.00”) mineral
loaded polypropylene ICT™ (inductive coupling technology) drive unit. The CMS401
DCe uses a high powered and wide bandwidth 100mm (4.00”) Dual Concentric™ driver
which combines a multi fibre paper pulp LF cone and a titanium domed HF unit
with a neodymium magnet system. Perfect for this type of application, both point
source driver systems generate a spherical wave front unaffected by energy loss
at the crossover frequency in either vertical or horizontal planes.
Manufactured from UV / weather resistant
UL94V-0 ABS material, the injection moulded pod can be swivelled 25° in any
direction within its ceiling mounting ring allowing precise targeting of the
sound towards the desired area of coverage. The cleverly designed clamping
system facilitates fast, simple and cost effective installation and adjustment.
Once the exact angle of the ‘eyeball’ is established the unit can be clamped
securely to permanently maintain that position. However, if required, further
readjustment of the system is also possible.
In
addition to low impedance operation, each unit includes a premium quality Tannoy
THP30 multi-tap transformer for distributed-line systems. The versatility of the
CMS401 speakers will satisfy a wide assortment of foreground music or paging
system applications such as retail environments, office buildings, airports and
hotels through to home theatre or residential multi-room stereo systems.
