| A: HDTV-Ready and HDTV-compatible are in fact just different terms
used by different manufacturers to designate the same thing: that an HD display
lacks an HD tuner. This is also described as HDTV-upgradeable, though the
official term is supposed to be an HDTV-monitor.
You'll need to add a separate HD tuner in order for you to be able to watch high definition programs in the high definition format. The TV is capable of displaying the format, unlike your old analog TV, but doesn't receive them by itself. A TV with a built-in HDTV tuner is called an integrated HDTV. |
